The Movie:  This documentary profiles director David Cronenberg, whose films include The Fly, Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch, Crash, eXistenZ, and others. The documentary basically consists of a narrator talking about Cronenberg's various films and the actors in them and then the actors talking about working in the films with Cronenberg. I enjoyed this disc even though I don't like a few of Cronenberg's movies - but it was interesting to see the actors give their opinions on his directing style. Overall an interesting documentary.

The Picture:  The picture is about as good as can be expected. Presented in TV aspect ratio of 1.33:1, the picture is nothing spectacular, but I saw no problems with the DVD.

The Sound:  There's really nothing to review here other than quality - I didn't notice any abnormalities on this disc - and therefore, it has good sound. It's not a Dolby digital or DTS, but rather just stereo. No problems were encountered.

Special Features: Scene Access, Filmography & Awards, Weblinks.

The Extras:  There really aren't any extras - nor did I expect any - on this documentary. There's a filmography of Cronenberg and some weblinks for those of you with DVD-ROM access. Nothing special at all.

The Insert:  No insert is included with this disc.

Conclusion:  The American Film Institute decided to profile some of today's "most acclaimed Hollywood directors," and this is the end result. The movie itself is put together pretty well and was interesting. The only problem I found with the disc is that you are forced to watch a commercial for this video set - as if you didn't know what you were buying - that is hard to get through unless you know every in and out of your player. There's really nothing special about the video or audio, other than there were no problems evident. If you like Cronenberg, you most likely will enjoy this documentary on his filmmaking.
