Click to enlarge. The Movie:  If you're a fan of NFL films that you see on ESPN from time to time, this DVD is right up your alley. Featuring 4 different segments, each about 45-60 minutes long, they feature "In Their Own Words," a look inside the minds of different players each the best (or one of the best) at their respective position today. The next is "Passing the Torch," an interesting segment that features 4 different hall-of-famers who meet up with a player who has potential to be a hall-of-famer to give some advice, joke around, and have some fun. After that is "Coaching 2000," where the viewer is able to go inside meetings, film review sessions, training camps, and game day from the coaches' perspective. Last, but not least, is "Generations," a look at football's greatest families - from the Grieses to the Mannings to the Dorsetts. It's interesting to see how football is viewed through these different generations of the same family.

The Picture:  Presented in standard TV ratio (1.33:1), this DVD is basically 4 different made-for-TV movies from NFL films, put on a disc with some flashy menus and chapter stops. While the movies themself are fun to watch, the video is nothing special. The colors are quite bright and vivid, as they should be, and there were no evident signs of pixelation or artifacts. The picture of the disc is nothing special, but they didn't make any mistakes either.

The Sound:  Again, these 4 different movies were made for TV and are presented here in the DVD format and contain no special sound effect, or really anything to rate. Presented in Dolby 2.0 surround, the 4 videos are mainly a compilation of interviews with actual NFL film with some music in the background. The music never overpowers the video itself and is just the right volume and the speech is easy to comprehend and hear at all times. Once again, nothing special, but nothing wrong.

Special Features: There are no special features on this disc.

The Extras:  There are no extras included on this disc.

The Insert:  A simple 2 page insert, the front has the same artwork as the DVD cover (see above graphic) and the back contains the different chapter stops for the 4 different 'movies.' The inside also is pretty much the same as the back of the disc highlighting the different 'movies' and who exactly is in each one and what each one covers - not too much useful information.

Conclusion:  In conclusion, this DVD is basically a compilation of four different movies, each one not more than an hour long. All 4 focus on different aspects of the NFL and feature different players, different perspectives, and different narratives. Overall, while the video and picture don't present anything stunningly nice, they also don't make any mistakes. If you enjoy NFL films on ESPN, or a similar channel, you'll most likely like this disc. The different 'movies' are interesting to watch and interesting - but at a price of $25, it's hard to say whether or not this disc is worth it. For die-hard NFL fans, this disc is a nice addition to your DVD collection, for all others, rent first.
