Blade
A review by: Blake Kunisch
Directed by: Stephen Norrington & Stephen+Norrington
Released: August 21, 1998 - US
Posted: 1998/08/22 | 8/10 stars

Blade, starring Wesley Snipes, jumps from the marvel comic book to the screen in this action-packed adventure. Snipes plays a half-human, half-vampire vampire slayer (better weapons and technology than Buffy). This far-fetched movie casts vampires as common as flies in our society. They are everywhere, they own half of downtown New York, the Police Department, etc. Stephen Dorff plays Frost, a vampire who believes that they should take over the human race (we are cows anyway, just food to them), rather than hide in the shadows like they now do. In order for Dorff to take over the human race, he needs to capture Blade (Snipes) alive because he is the "key" to releasing the "Blood God." This is far easier said than done.

This action packed movie is non-stop and the special effects are gorgeous. If you love comics, action, or Blade, see this movie. Otherwise, wait for rental. Although I had fun while seeing this movie, if you don't like comics or can't stand blood, don't see this movie. My friends enjoyed it because they too like comics (or at least comic book characters and the unbelievable settings) and I think that many other people will like this movie (the theater was pretty full for a 2 o'clock showing).
