Analyze This
A review by: Blake Kunisch

Released: March 5, 1999 - US

Analyze This stars Robert DeNiro as Paul Vitti, one of the most powerful mobsters in New York. Suffering from anxiety attacks, Paul decides that he needs a shrink - enter Billy Crystal as Ben Sobol, a psychiatrist who is chosen by Paul as his "doc." It takes repeated visits to the doc to finally help Paul, and throughout these encounters, the humor abounds. The last time I laughed this much during a movie was Something About Mary. Both Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal were in top form and hilarious. Robert DeNiro was just great even when he was crying his guts out. After you throw in the rest of the mobsters (especially Joey), this is one movie that can't be missed.

The whole movie is funny and fun to watch, there is never a slow point in this movie where I got bored and wanted to walk out (like I almost did while watching Jawbreaker). It seems that Billy Crystal can be paired with anyone and be perfect. I didn't think that Robert DeNiro could do the comedy bit, but it seems as if Billy brought out the best in him. Not only is the movie hilarious, but when you throw in the impeding marriage of Billy Crystal to his always funny bride, Lisa Kudrow, and the dumb, "morons" (as one mobster put it) in the mob, and this movie has all the elements of a hilarious movie. I highly recommend this movie.
