10 Things I Hate About You
A review by: Blake Kunisch
Directed by: Gil Junger & Gil+Junger
Released: March 31, 1999 - US
Posted: 1999/04/03 | 4/10 stars

Although I had some apprehensions about seeing this movie because of all the recent teenager-geared movies, I went anyway. Riding on the heels of Varsity Blues, She's All That, and others, I was actually hoping for a movie with a new plot and not the same recurring, obvious plot found in many movies today. Unfortunately, I found none of these. The subplot to this movie parallels that of She's All That almost to the last detail. The only thing going for this movie is that it had some more comedy that the other movies I have seen lately. I actually found myself laughing at some of the jokes, and even though this is a movie set to attract teenage audiences, some of the jokes were for more mature audiences. This was probably done to amuse older teens/twenty-somethings. While I didn't hate this movie, at times it was hard to sit through and quite boring. The movie could've ended 20 minutes early, but it dragged the plot out to an ending that is no surprise. Sure, this movie had some good parts and some good laughs, but overall fails to deliver.

Genres: Comedy, Romance
Rated: PG-13 - For crude sex-related humor and dialogue, alcohol and drug-related scenes, all involving teens.
Runtime: 97 minutes
