Lake Placid A review by: Blake Kunisch Directed by: Steve Miner & Steve+Miner Released: July 16, 1999 - US Posted: 1999/07/27 | 2/10 starsLake Placid, one of the stupidest movies to come around in a long time (and quite short
too) isn't worth the price of admission. There's not much to review here.
Basic plot: a 30 ft. Asian crocodile (migrated from Asia?) is found in a lake (not
Lake Placid - that name was already taken) and it starts to eat deputies and wildlife.
What to do? Kill it? No - that's too easy - let's capture it because it
is a miracle of nature. Let's then combine with the 30 ft. crocodile some actors who
must be desparate for work to accept starring in this movie. I'm sure Bill Pullman
and Bridgett Fonda can get better roles than in this movie. I wouldn't recommend
this movie to my worst enemy. Although the crocodile special effects were pretty
cool, nothing - not even the trash talking former Golden Girl Betty White - could save
this movie. If you need your fill for a scary movie, check out the superb Blair Witch Project
and stay as far away as possible from this movie.
