Dick, the story of Richard Nixon, his dog - Checkers, and two "dumb teenagers," while clever at times, overall is a generally stupid movie. I have never walked out of a movie, but I came dangerously close to walking out of this one. After a while, Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams get very annoying playing two teenagers with empty minds. They giggle, clap, and make strange expressions throughout the film and their high-pitched laughs are enough to make anyone cringe.

Filled with an all-star cast (of sorts) - many actors and actresses are involved in this movie making either their first big-screen appearance jumping from the small screen, or just another small cameo in the whole scheme of things. From Ryan Reynolds (Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place), Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall and News Radio), and Bruce McCulloch (Kids in the Hall) to struggling SNL alumni Will Ferrell, Jim Breuer and Ana Gasteyer, the cast is the only redeeming feature of this movie. As they pop up from scene to scene, it seems as if this movie is just chock-full of talent that can never seem to make it big.

When Arlene Lorenzo (Williams) and Betsy Jobs (Dunst) witness the break in at the Watergate, they don't know what they are getting in to. Invited to the White House to meet the president and to find out if they would betray him to reporters, they end up getting jobs as "official dog walkers." As the movie unfolds, the two girls are placed in situations that just seem to fit together too perfectly. The movie is quite clever in the way that they address many of the unanswered parts of the Watergate scandal (missing 18 1/2 minutes of tape, who is Deepthroat, etc.). That's about all it has going for it. I'm giving it a 4 out of 10 mainly for the creative cast and clever script. As for the movie itself, this is definately one to wait for on tape.
